Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov is determined to provide at least 5-6 thousand work positions for invalids and to create barrier-free environment for disabled people. “We will proceed with Equal Opportunities Year project in 2010-2011 until we make sure that the barrier-free environment in Moscow is created, children with special needs attend schools, and jobs are made available to those invalids who are willing to work”.
The main sensation of this year’s San Sebastian Film Festival was the Best Actor Silver Shell Award received by a Spanish actor Pablo Pineda for his role in the feature film Me, Too (Yo, Tambien). Pineda is the first actor with Down syndrome to receive such a prestigious movie award.
This year Santa Claus and the Snow Maiden intend to visit not only the Downside Up children families, but they will also accept the requests from our Friends Club members. If you support our Fund and if you have kids who expect a visit from Santa, please send your requests to Ksenya Tchernyavskaya at ksenya@downsideup.org, or give us a call at +7 (499) 367-1000.

On 8th November, Guus Hiddink's birthday, 9 corporate teams competed for the Cup of Downside Up Charitable In-Door Football Tournament to benefit children with Down syndrome. The cup went to Raiffaissen Bank team which participated in the tournament for the first time. The parents' team won the 2nd place and thus ended up for the first time among the three best teams, and Baker&Mckenzie team won the bronze medals. Thanks to the input of all the participants, 610,000 roubles have been raised for children's early intervention and education programmes. Our next tournament will be held in April 2010. If you want to participate, please contact Yana Yakusheva at 8 499 367-1000, yanya@downsideup.org.
“Have you really been in this building for three years? It looks as if you have only just moved in!” This is comment about Downside Up Early Intervention Centre made by a family from Vladivostok. Thanks to regular “landing parties” of voluntaries from our corporate partners and Downside Up families, our entire 720 m2 floor space area, 42 windows, games and toys, furniture and schoolbooks, the lawn and flowerbeds, the garden house and storages - all look as good as new.
Many thanks to JamilCo, UBS, Chevron, Nike... They turn clean up into great fun!  If you want to join in, please contact Yana Yakusheva at yanaya@downsideup.org, or call her at +7 (499) 367-1000.
