Dear Friends,
We are on the threshold of one of the best times of the year – New Year and Christmas. It is the time when dreams come true and miracles can happen at any moment. Miracles are everyday reality in the families supported by Downside Up: little Daria has learned to use a plate and cup, Dimulya can now roll over from back to tummy on his own accord, and Katyusha has learned to sit up on her own, pull up to a standing position, and pronounce various syllables. But for your help, these miracles would never happen. Visit our forum to learn more about Downside Up children’s achievements.

Two heroines of the film «On Mt Way to Look for…” abandoned their babies at birth because they had Down syndrome. Having Down syndrome: what’s it like? Can people with Down syndrome learn at all? Are they kind or cruel? We often hear these and many other questions of this sort from our fellow-citizens. Downside Up friends from Podmoskoviye TV Channel made a documentary about individuals with Down syndrome–their life, their accomplishments, and the society’s attitudes towards them.Special programme part 1. Second part.
Downside Up works hard to raise public awareness about the nature of Down syndrome and the potential of individuals with Down syndrome. Follow this link if you want to support our awareness raising initiatives..

5th December – the International Volunteer Day is a very special date for 8.24 million young people from all parts of the world, because it is a sort of “professional holiday” of the people who care, and who are willing to contribute their personal time for helping those who are less able to care for themselves. There are all sorts of different ideas as to what volunteering is about. At Downside Up we know for sure we can rely on our volunteers’ help in preparation for charitable events, children’s parties, parents’ meetings, and exhibitions. Volunteers take part in Downside Up’s subbotniks and help us in many other ways. Dear volunteers, please accept our congratulations! Thank you for all you are doing for us and with us!
49000 rubles are needed to operate the Early Intervention Centre for one day. If you have not yet joined the ranks of our volunteers, you can help by making a donation here.
