The Spring Charity In-door Football Tournament in aid of children with Down syndrome, unprecedented in terms of the number of participants, took place on 18th April 2010.
16 teams played on four fields by rotation. The players were bankers, auditors, journalists, representatives of oil companies, beer companies and hotels, the parents of children with Down syndrome, and TV stars.

A record number of companies took part in the tournament this year: PepsiCo Россия, Nike, ЭксонМобил Раша Инк, Baker&McKenzie, Renaissance & Courtyard by Marriott Hotels of Russia, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Российское агентство международной информации РИА Новости (RIA Novosti), Райффайзенбанк (Raiffeisen Bank), ВЕЛЕС Капитал (Veles Capital), Банк «ВТБ 24» (Bank VTB 24), CliffordChance, Росбанк (Rosbank), Группа компаний EFES в России (Efes Group of companies, Russia), Группа НАДОМ, (Nadom Group) компания ПРОМОПОСТ (Promopost company), КонокоФиллипс (Conocophillips), the winner of 2009 Spring Downside Up Tournament «Michail Shatz and Friend», and Downside Up parents’ team.
1,530,000 rubles have been transferred to benefit the early intervention programmes for children with Down syndrome. This means that for 1780 families the learning sessions with speech therapists, cognitive and motor development specialists and psychologists will remain free.

The master of ceremonies was the charming Anna Gorshkova, who played the main female role in the latest Stanislav Govoroukhin’s film “The passenger”. Guests and participants were entertained by two actresses from the Theatre of the Innocent (where actors are individuals with Down syndrome): Maria Nefedova played a piece by Bach for the flute, and Svetlana Asanova danced oriental and gypsy dances. At awards ceremony the winners were greeted by Miss Russia 2010 Irina Antonenko.

I  t was our seventh charity in-door football tournament within the framework of the Charity Sports project. In the past seven years more than 30 corporate teams took part, over 9 million rubles were raised, winners received awards from the distinguished footba
ll players Yuri Kovtoun, Vadim Evseyev, Vladimir Leonchenko, and Russian celebrities such as Tatiana Lazareva, Mikhail Shatz, Tutta Larsen, Vice-Miss Universe Vera Krassova and many others.

The main goal of the event is to raise funds for and draw public attention to Downside Up’s early intervention programmes for children with Down syndrome in Russia.
