Downside Up holds benefit sports events 5 times a year. Russian Challenge Charitable Ski Race is our traditional winter event which for eight years running has united ski lovers who race to win, have fun, and help children with Down syndrome. Each year we make a new scenario, invite new guests and have a few surprises up the sleeve to keep our participants happy and to impress our permanent participants.

| 9.00 – Downside Up team roll call. Everything is under control: participants and teams are being registered, skis and boots handed out, a canopy put over the field kitchen. Corporate banners are on the podium. we have a doctor and 3 photographers .There is a special desk for registration of journalists and, a usual course, a heated house where children have tea and snacks. It is minus seventeen centigate! |

10.00 – a bus brings NADOM team fans from the town of Tver. The fans wear orange hats (orange is Downside Up colour). TNT Express supporters put dozens of orange balloons on the fence, Swedbank team carry orange signs, Tekhnologiya Igr team in orange jackets lift the Russian Challenge multirace banner with Downside Up orange and blue logo. With the first sounds of music participants with children begin to arrive.

Veronique Garret, a Downside Up trustee and mother of Florence. Downside Up began in 1993, when Florence was born. Veronique came from England to support the Multirace and to thank all participants. Russian felt boots and warm mittens are very appropriate on such a cold day!

Team relays and 3, 5 and 10 km races were the traditional items on the programme. One of the new things this year was a 500 m race for children.
Another novelty was the new Ski Race format called Multirace - a snowy obstacle course with tests for precision, quickness, and dexterity for participants who had no skis.
